I believe life prepares us for a purpose. Through our environments, experiences, our adaptations, our survival tactics, our natural skills, and our affinities, a pathway develops.
Sure, many of us hold an array of jobs, sometimes across several industries, and to us they may feel like random jumps around the map of our bestowed skills and opportunities. But I'd like for you to consider that there is a common thread through all our professional experiences, leading us to the space where we can make impact because we're in flow with what we were made to do.
My own career has involved seasons of marketing and HR, nonprofit executive leadership, market research and analytics, retail content strategy, and divisional team leadership. Up until a few years ago, if you had asked me my life's purpose or my 10-year goals, I would have told you my purpose was simply to give my all to whatever industry I was in. I was never the girl with a clear dream of being a doctor, lawyer, or actress. However, looking back through my experiences, the common thread is this: in any job I hold, I ask probing questions, I clarify vision, I create a pathway to reach it, and I make impact through relationships.
Have you seen the thread in your own life? What has happened when you’ve followed it? What has happened when you've moved away from it?
If we step away from that thread, or out of that flow, we dread Mondays (or all days), we hold tension in our bodies, and we grind through months without achieving our potential. Sometimes we do this as a means to an end, but I believe it should not BE our end. We have to return to our thread.
What's the thread in your life that you keep returning to? Do you need help identifying it? Let's work on it together.
